Celebrity Nutritionist, David Wolfe - LIVE, Wednesday October 15th

So, I've been hesitating at telling the world of my newfound FANTABULOUS discovery...and I guess it's time, I can hold back no longer.  Here's my story...many months ago, shortly after I started doing Avon/Mark as a home-based business, I thought to myself; "Wouldn't it be great if David Wolfe was involved in a direct sales business...something ethical, and having to do with the superfoods I've been using for years, and have grown to know and love?!?"

So, I guess it was about 6 weeks ago, this opportunity fell into my lap...someone had messaged me on one of my social networks, letting me know about this company that David Wolfe and some other "big" raw food people were a part of.  It was exactly what I had intended months before, right there--being presented to me.  How could I say no?  So, I had been intending on having a "loyalty marketing" business (superfood related) come to me...I even listed it as one of my goals!  Anyway, this is one of the many things I have been working on as of late.

Setting the business opportunity aside, this event (if anything like this evening) will be SUPERB!  If you've never heard David Wolfe speak, you are certainly in for a treat; he is not only a great public speaker, he is INCREDIBLY well educated in the fields of superfood & raw-food nutrition.  I seriously doubt if there is any other individual on the planet that is as well versed in these subjects.  His lectures are incredibly informative, and he's quite entertaining as well.

I sincerely hope to have you join us there, I'm ABSOLUTELY sure that if you have any curiosity, or interest in superfood and/or nutrition at all, you would learn quite a lot by attending this event.

Super P.C. Girl - Business Card Lover

So it seems as if I am getting quite tech-ie (not trekkie) these days!  (ok, well...I am somewhat of a "trekkie", but that's another issue).  I have been hiring myself out as a P.C. Consultant (sorry guys, I'm not a MAC girl...at least not yet); it's probably time to print myself some business cards for this new job of mine...by the way, I have business cards for EVERYTHING.

I highly recommend that everyone have at least one type of business card for themselves, even if they aren't in "business" for anything.  I helped a lady the other day get "free" business cards for herself (she paid $5.+some cents for shipping)...she entitled herself as a "Domestic Goddess", which I thought was brilliant.

I have thought that the job of mother and/or home-maker is mostly underrated in our society.  I have even been considering putting this MONUMENTAL task of being a mother (and nursing for 2 and-a-half years) on my resume.  I feel this profession really does reflect a lot as far as my character is concerned; I mean, if I can somewhat successfully manage a healthy-lifestyle household, and baby/toddler twins, then I must be worth hiring at some well-paying job, right?  How is it not customary for people to put their stay-at-home, multitasking, hyper-managing, super-cleaning, wholesome-loving, FULL-TIME Mom/Dad job on a resume?  This is one reason I STILL after 2 months, have not completed my resume...it looks oddly blank and missing large pieces of myself without this crucial information.  [wondering if anyone else out there has been so bold as to "break the status-quo" and put this (seriously) in their resume]  A part of me really wants to do this.

However, I seem to be racking up the home-based income ideas pretty well, so I may not need to finish my resume after all.  It would be nice to have a resume on hand, though if for no-one other than myself, to remind me all of the things I have accomplished in the past (will soon be 32) years.  It feels good to remember all that you are capable of, and where your skills lie.  Which brings me back to my business card idea...I am always so excited to exchange business cards with people; I am just as excited to see what other people's cards are like, as I am to share with them my own.  So many people don't have a card for themselves...oh, and I SO wish they all did!  I want to know who you are, what statements you make about yourself, how you are special and set yourself apart from others; I almost feel like business-card-making is a form of "self-cheerleading"...we all could use a bit more of that.  What do you do WELL...I really want to know!?

So, on a more "superfood" related topic...Dominic has been making chocolate for us today; I am sure he'll share it with friends and family, but this is SUCH a HUGE deal!  He has not made any chocolate since we were last in production as Raw/Organic/Vegan "Love-N-Cacao" (the last time was Late Jan./Early Feb. of this year), so to break out the chocolate molds was quite a celebratory event.  I think he will be manufacturing cacao products again in the not-too-distant future.  Depending on circumstances...the right moment and situation will eventually present itself.  Until then, at least we know now that he can get in our home kitchen every once in a while to whip up (taking a few hours of course) a batch of yummy molded cacao bars.

Excellent Superfoods

Dominic and I gave our first talk this weekend at the North County raw food potluck; yay, our first gig!  It was so much fun...the two of us had SO much to say, and a lot of it had absolutely nothing to do with food  (I often like to take my attention away from food...there is certainly more to life than food!)  Our talk took so many twists and turns, I'm afraid I didn't get to say what some were really wanting us to finish up on.  So, as a supplemental to our talk, I've compiled a list of our favorite superfoods.

-Pure Synergy, my favorite green-powdered superfood...very powerful.  My preferred method is to either add this to my raw/vegan hot chocolate...or to simply add 1 heaping teaspoon to 2-3 cups of water and a touch of agave or honey (to sweeten).  Yum!

-Maca, my preferred is Maca Extreme (it's less fibrous).  Maca is most famously known to be an aphrodisiac.  It is very "warming" to the body...great to use in the wintertime to help keep your body heat up!  It's great to make a tea from this.

-Cacao, definitely food of the Gods!  Super high in iron, and magnesium which is severely lacking in the average diet.  Cacao is excellent mood therapy; supports feelings of peace and well-being.  Cacao is an aphrodisiac, and an appetite suppressant.  Cacao is also useful for getting a sluggish digestive system moving more quickly.  I like to keep Cacao Nibs (or beans), Cacao Oil/Butter, and Cacao Powder in my pantry.

-Spirulina, powder or flakes...my kids love to chew on the tablets.   The powder or flakes are a nice addition to certain recipes; sprinkled on top of salads, blended into soups, etc...

-Chlorella-I've tried a few different types, and my preferred is SunChlorella.    It is not technically "raw"; they claim to heat it to 140 degrees F, but it still resonates with me as an excellent superfood.  It is most economical to order this direct, rather than from your local health food market.

-Flax oil, may or may not technically be considered a superfood...but I believe it's important to know what our most important "fats" are that we might want to have around.  For some reason, before I got interested in raw cuisine, it eluded me as to how to use flax oil without it tasting awful.  Now I can't seem to ration it, I find it good in so many things.  It's a great addition to nut-milks, soups, smoothies, pate'...even salad dressings; it makes things very creamy.  I've heard it's really great on the skin, too...but I can't seem to get to that, because I just want to eat it!

-Coconut Oil, SUPER oil; Has incredible anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties...for both internal and external use.  One of my favorite additions to smoothies.  I am very picky about my coconut oil, though...I've tried so many that taste and smell "off" (rancidity).  Two that I like are Jungle Products (which I usually see in health-food stores, and Virgin Oil De Coco Creme from Quality First International

-Tea, Although I enjoy many kinds of tea, whether it comes from the camellia sinensis (tea) plant or not...I find it important to mention the benefits of brewing medicinal herbs in water.  This could be a whole study in itself; each of the incredible herbs on the planet and what they can do for assisting the human body.  Some of my favorites are Pau D' Arco, Cat's Claw, Chanca Piedra, Yerba Mate', Peppermint, Moringa, St. John's Wort, Damiana, etc... the list goes on.  It's important to be open to eastern herbs (ie. Chinese medicine), as well as western herbs.  BF + C (Bone, Flesh and Cartilage) is a formulation of herbs that Dominic and I find very healing and useful.  It can be found at Dr. Christophers.  They have re-named it to "Complete Tissue and Bone".

-Sea Vegetables, important for the chelation of heavy metals from the body.  There are so many different ones, but the ones I use the most are Nori, Dulse, Wakame, Arame, and Kelp Powder.

-Aloe Vera, the fresh, whole food (as opposed to buying it bottled).  Aloe is an excellent food; add some to a smoothie or juice.  Remove the skin, ie. Filet (like you would fish, I suppose)...then use a bit of the inside flesh to add to your blended food!
