The interviews last night were incredible; it’s becoming more apparent how valuable this entire Rawkathon project that Kevin Gianni has put together, truly is! All of us, collectively, with our information and personal experience with a healthier lifestyle have a HUGE message for the ailing S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) world (at least the ones who are ready for it).
If you haven’t seen the interviews from Matt Monarch, and Karen Knowler yet…they will be available for the next few (very few) hours; until 5pm PST / 8pm EST. Aside from that, bringing our focus onto today’s interviews – Cherie Soria & Viktoras Kulvinskas!
I most recently saw Victoras (not in person) on ABC’s show, 20/20. You may have seen this little “expose” on raw food. In fact, it didn’t have much to do about raw food at all, it was more about some extreme examples of eating disorders (Victoras not one of them), people who had happened to “latch on” to the raw food lifestyle as part of their disorder. Like the media OFTEN does, putting a “spin” on whatever kind of message they would like to portray – in this case it was showing the world how awful a raw food diet is; Oh, Puh-LEEZ!
That interviewer had already made his decision about Victoras and his lifestyle before the interview even started; it actually made the interviewer look like a fool, not to mention aggressive…continually backing Victoras into a corner, and frankly, just being plain rude. I would be interested in seeing an UNEDITED version of that interview. Oh and, by the way, from Matt Monarch’s interview last night…did Matt not imply that he too had been interviewed by 20/20? Wasn’t Matt also saying something about his interview with 20/20 having went really well, and that he was “really on” that day? How very interesting that 20/20 chose not to use ANY of Matt’s interview – because I saw 20/20, and wasn’t even aware that Matt had even been interviewed for that segment! Wondering where the footage is for Matt’s 20/20 interview, wouldn’t I love to get my hands on that!
Anyway…enough ranting, I’ll leave that job to…what was that interviewers name again? (not you, Kevin)!
I would however be interested in seeing large media coverage on SUCCESSFUL raw-foodists (there are more than PLENTY, including Viktoras, by the way)! This positive perspective in the media is happening on occasion now, in today’s world of “what’s new with raw-food”. Wondering if 20/20 would be interested in redeeming themselves by interviewing people that raw food has actually helped (the numbers are largely on THAT side of the scale, I know)!
In the meantime, I’ll keep watching Rawkathon…at least for this week. ;-P
So, as in days previous…the AWESOME LIVE Pre-event,
The Renegade Health Show LIVE – on USTREAM at 4pm PST / 7pm EST
and afterwards,
Rawkathon Interview w/ Cherie Soria at 5pm PST / 8pm EST
then…
Rawkathon Interview w/ Victoras Kulvinskas at 6pm PST / 9pm EST

Excitement is building about today’s interviews, Matt Monarch and Karen Knowler. I’m especially interested in seeing Matt’s interview; mostly because he was the very first person to teach me about raw food! The day I was introduced to Matt, I spent HOURS listening to his story, with jaw dropped…and it was in this experience that I had the “light bulb” moment of FINALLY understanding and knowing why I was having so many chronic problems with my body, and more importantly that I was in control, and could do something about it.
I am so grateful to Matt, for that experience and the subsequent months that I spent time learning from him, and the people he was surrounding himself with (at that time these people were Paul Nison, and Matt’s mentor Dr. Fred Bisci). It’s been many years since I’ve spent time with Matt, and back then, he was still fairly new to raw-food himself (1-year raw). So, it will definitely be interesting to hear Matt’s perspective on health many years later. Matt Monarch has since authored his own raw-food, health books – “Raw Success”, and “Raw Spirit”. Matt also has his own business, The Raw Food World – where he retails health related products that are specific to raw food, but including ALL aspects of the lifestyle.
I met Karen Knowler when traveling with David Wolfe and his “entourage” in Europe. I doubt if Karen remembers me, but I definitely remember her. We spent some time sitting on the lawn together at a 3-day raw food event in Germany. Her son, Luke…at that time was still a “little babe” (this event was back in the Summer of 2003); he may have been about a year old. In hindsight, it’s very interesting for me to think about the significance of this event; it may have even been my first experience seeing a baby in the raw-food community.
Although, my time with Karen was brief, and I don’t remember much of anything we talked about…I’m certain of it’s significance, the impact on me—of having seen Karen and her healthy little family. It wasn’t long after my traveling in 2003, that I was gearing up (mostly unknowingly, at least not until later in the year) for having healthy children of my own!
I may not be attending tonight’s pre-event at Rawkathon…I’ll definitely make it if I can!!! The online events have been CRAZY the past couple of weeks, it’s hard to devote all of my afternoon time when there are events going on almost EVERY DAY! At the very least, I’ll pop-in at another time—there seems to be a lot of “hanging around” in The Renegade Health Show chat room (on USTREAM) even when there isn’t live streaming video happening!
So, again…as a reminder, the times for the events today (Wednesday, Oct. 22) are as follows:
Rawkathon pre-event – The Renegade Health Show LIVE on USTREAM -at- 4pm PST / 7pm EST
Rawkathon Interview with Matt Monarch – 5pm PST / 8pm EST
Rawkathon Interview with Karen Knowler – 6pm PST / 9pm EST

Rawkathon DAY 3! Tonight’s speakers will be Victoria Boutenko, and Nomi Shannon! The pre-event starts at 4pm PST / 7pm EST – join Kevin Gianni and Annmarie Colameo on The Renegade Health Show LIVE. You can either visit their blog page, or go to their USTREAM channel to view their half-hour broadcast.
I just realized, from an e-mail that Kevin sent out…the reason The Renegade Health Show is LIVE all week, is because they have been SO busy managing Rawkathon, that there would just be NO way for him to have time to do a full-on show, edit it, and get it up on the web while trying to do Rawkathon, too; Totally understandable! I think it’s totally fun to have a LIVE show, more interactivity for the viewers. Come and join us all who are watching Kevin and Annmarie, have any questions ready for them, and feel free to interact with everyone joining-in via the chat feature as well.
After the pre-event, TONIGHT’s Rawkathon interviews will be available for viewing…starting at 5pm PST / 8pm EST (and available for FREE for 24 hours after that start-time). Sign up for free (if you haven’t done so already) at www.Rawkathon.com.
Victoria Boutenko, is well-known in the health food movement for transforming her family and children over to a raw-food diet (many years ago), RADICALLY transforming their health (each of them have their own incredible stories)…Her two children, Valya and Sergei (now adults) are also helping people achieve radiant health; they both have published raw-food books of their own. For more information about Victoria’s story, read her touching book “The Raw Family”; it talks about their families transition to raw, and how they helped themselves out of major health issues.
Victoria is also well-known for bringing green smoothies into popularity with her book “Green for Life”. If you haven’t “played with” the health benefits of adding green smoothies to your cuisine, this is a MUST read!
Nomi Shannon is also part of this evenings interviews – I will be thrilled to learn more about her. She is best known for her book, “The Raw Gourmet” – a lovely book on raw cuisine!
